Joan Whalen, Wedding
Consultant and Ordained Minister

Educated in Canada including 2 years
of college and 6 months of business college, Joan Whalen first
started in the food industry as chef’s helper to an executive
chef.
Her extensive background includes dining
room waitress in some of the countries top resort hotels including
the historic Hotel Del Coronado. From there she graduated to banquet
manager and catering Sales Director.
With a business diploma in merchandising and costing she opened
her own catering establishment combining this with wedding and
event planning. She has closed her catering establishment giving
full attention to wedding consultation and planning.
Joan's wedding consultation is customized
to allow no more than 20-24 weddings per year, thus allowing the
personalized service that each bride deserves.
An assistant is provided for larger
and more detailed events.
Joan also teaches, on a part time basis
‘How to become a wedding consultant’
and ‘ Production, costs, labor
and overhead involved in a wedding’ This

Joan has lived in Coronado for the past 40 years. Each year she
coordinates a number of weddings at the historic Hotel Del Coronado
as well as the many outstanding venues in San Diego.
My assistant
makes sure that all gifts, flowers, cake and special items that
are brought in by the bride are packaged and taken by designated
vehicles to wedding venue. She'll
stays to the very end to make sure all is perfect for your special
