Joan Whalen first started in the food industry as chef’s helper to an executive chef.

Her extensive background includes dining room waitress in some of the countries top resort hotels including the historic Hotel Del Coronado. From there she graduated to banquet manager and catering Sales Director

With a business diploma in merchandising and costing she opened her own catering establishment combining this with wedding and event planning. She has closed her catering establishment giving full attention to wedding consultation and planning.

Joan’s wedding consultation is customized to allow no more than 20-24 weddings per year, thus allowing

An assistant is provided for larger and more detailed events.

Joan has lived in Coronado for the past 40 years. Each year she coordinates a number of weddings at the historic Hotel Del Coronado as well as the many outstanding venues in San Diego.
